Sources and commentaries

Catalogna is a vegetable with big leaves (ca. 30-40 cm long) dented like dandelion, with which it is often confused by ignorants ; it is mostly eaten cooked. A subtype (?) produces sprouts which are eaten as mazzocchi or puntarelle as a salad.

  • Italian
    • The young sprouts are called mazzocchi ; when they are longer, they are called puntarelle.
