|texte=Not only cultivated as an ornamental, but also cultivated for its flowers and fruits. Cultivated in tropical countries as well (India, Angola etc.). Flowers are dipped in butter and are eaten fried, or are used in the preparation of teas. Fruits are used in the preparation of soups, juices and other non-alcoholic drinks. This species has gained interest not only by the juice industry, but also in food industry (use of the anthocyanins as food colourants). Many cultivars were selected in various countries.
