Usages
Widely cultivated here and outside its natural range, e.g. in Cuba, Sri Lanka and SW Asia, mostly in plantations. The seeds are used locally as food, and as source for cooking oil. They are most valued as nuts which are exported to North America and Europe. The wood is excellent, is cut and polished in many ways. Still most of the nuts are however harvested from wild trees.
