Usages
Cultivated in Vietnam, in southern USA and Hawaii from SE Asian immigrants. The plant is difficult to cultivate, but it has a unique odor of the leaves, which are used for several Vietnamese sweet and sour dishes; e.g. a famous soup is made from it with tamarinds and cantaloupe. The herb is also used in Malaysia. Some medicinal uses are listed for China.
Wild distribution: SE Asia.
