Usages
A potential source of solasodine for medicinal use, and of glycoalkaloids to control schistosomiasis. Wild distribution: Wild plants in Colombia and Venezuela have globose fruits, but less prickly plants with fruits with peculiar nipple-like protrusions are cultivated more widely and used in South America for medicine or as rat and cockroach poison, and throughout the world for ornament.
