== Observations ==
*A fairly large tree, up to 40 m tall with up to 20 m branchless bole, 80 cm in diameter, buttresses tall, up to 4.5 m; leaves .*Leaves simple, densely scaly beneath, petioles 3-5 cm long, stout; fruit .*Fruit with large wing, glabrous. ''H. aurea'' resembles ''H. simplicifolia'' , except for the indumentum of the leaves, and has been confused frequently with the latter species. The tree is locally common on leached loamy soil in mixed dipterocarp forest up to 500 m altitude.
