Uses
Pterocarpus indicus Willd. from tropical Asia is planted in Africa as ornamental and roadside trees, e.g. in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Mauritius. It is an important timber tree in tropical Asia, but is not planted for timber production in Africa. In Mauritius the sap of Pterocarpus indicus is used to relieve toothache and as an antidote for poisoning.
