The Philippines (Luzon).
Uses
The timber is used as bitis, similar to M. betis.
Observations
- A medium-sized tree up to 20 m tall.
- Leaves loosely clustered at tips of twigs, narrowly elliptical or oblong, 15-21 cm × 4-7 cm, secondary veins joined in irregular arches, hairy beneath, stipules up to 6.5 mm long, fairly persistent but ultimately caducous.
- Flowers incompletely known, with sepals densely hairy outside and glabrous inside, and glabrous pistil.
- Fruit and seed incompletely known.
M. oblongifolia occurs in primary forest at low altitudes. The timber is obtainable in very limited quantities and is pinkish-brown to reddish-brown.
