Madhuca beccarii (Engl.) H.J. Lam

Vernacular names

  • Malaysia: nyatoh padi, nyatoh putih (Sarawak).

Distribution

Malaysia (Sarawak).

Uses

The timber is probably used as nyatoh.

Observations

  • A medium-sized to fairly large tree up to 35 m tall.
  • Leaves evenly distributed, elliptical to obovate, 11-16 cm × 3.5-6 cm, with secondary veins diminishing until inconspicuous near margin, glabrous, stipules up to 3 mm long, caducous.
  • Flowers with sepals puberulous outside, glabrous inside, 7-8-lobed corolla sericeous outside, 13-16 stamens and glabrous pistil.
  • Fruit ellipsoid to obovoid, 2-2.5 cm × 0.8-1.5 cm with thin pericarp.
  • Seed incompletely known.

M. beccarii is not very common and is rather unknown.
