Distribution

Indonesia (Java).

Uses

Seed clusters are eaten raw or candied.

Observations

  • Robust perennial herb, up to 3 m tall, bearing stilt-roots.
  • Leaves lanceolate, 53-69 cm × 8-13.5 cm.
  • Fruit berry-like, obovoid, compressed.

Common in mountain forests between 1000-2500 m altitude.
