Distribution
Indonesia (Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Kalimantan, Sumatra).
Uses
The fruits are edible but without much taste. Wood unsuitable as timber.
Observations
- Tree, up to 35 m tall and trunk up to 1.60 m diameter.
- Leaves oblong-ovate, 5-22 cm × 3-10 cm.
- Inflorescences up to 15 cm long.
- Fruit an ellipsoid drupe.
In riverine habitat, below 100 m altitude. Closely related to E. floribundus Blume.
In Indo-China Elaeocarpus madopetalus Pierre also bears edible fruits
