Distribution

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, the Philippines.

Uses

The fruits are edible but acid.

Observations

  • Dioecious tree, 5-25 m tall.
  • Leaves oblong to subelliptical, 10-40 cm × 3-12 cm, calyx and corolla 4-7-lobed.
  • Fruit an obovoid to pyriform berry, 6-10 cm × 5-6 cm with 8-16 seeds.

Flowering and fruiting possible year-round but mainly from April to December.
