Uses
The wood is reputed to be used as medang.
Observations
A medium-sized tree up to 20 m tall, bark surface greyish; leaves 7-20 cm × 1-5 cm, glabrous, midrib sunken above, prominent below, tertiary venation laxly reticulate above, petiole 0.7-1.2 cm long; flowers sparsely pilose; fruit globose, 1.0-1.1 cm in diameter, apiculate. B. novoguineensis is incompletely known, occurring in rain forest up to 850 m altitude.
