Distribution

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo.

Uses

The wood is reputed to be used as medang.

Observations

A medium-sized to fairly large tree up to 35 m tall, bole up to 55 cm in diameter, buttresses short or absent, bark surface smooth to finely fissured or dippled, grey-brown, inner bark reddish-brown; leaves opposite or subopposite, 7-20 cm × 1-5.5 cm, glabrous, midrib raised above, tertiary veins laxly reticulate, more distinct above than below, petiole 0.8-1.5 cm long; flowers pilose; fruit ellipsoid to oblong, up to 15 mm × 12 mm. B. dictyoneura is fairly common but occurs scattered in lowland and hill forest up to 1000 m altitude.
