Indonesia (Java, Sumatra), Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore.
Uses
The fruits are edible. The hard timber is used for handles.
Observations
- Terrestrial or epiphytic shrub or tree, 1-4(-10) m tall.
- Leaves elliptic to ovate, 3.5-7 cm × 1.5-3.5 cm.
- Flowers white or reddish.
- Fruit a berry, 6-7 mm diameter, black.
In forest near seashore, ascending from the coast to 2400 m altitude. Flowering year-round.
