Abbas Agbaje is a Sustainability Specialist, working with an environmental and sustainability consulting firm in Nigeria. He studied Botany as a first degree course at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. In 2015, he became a Commonwealth Scholar and had the privilege to study MSc. Sustainable Environmental Management at the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom. Before proceeding for his postgraduate degree, Abbas had participated in environmental impact assessment of various proposed capital projects in Nigeria. In the EIAs, he participated as the Lead Ecologist and identified, assessed and evaluated potential impacts of project activities on biodiversity and the ecosystem at large. Recently, he also led the ecology team on two (2) EIAs for proposed Solar Power Project in northern Nigeria. The final thesis of his Master's programme was focused on sustainable utilisation of invasive plants for improving the well-being of local people and for promoting resource efficiency. Abbas is interested in collaborating and partnering with scholars from around the world on issues relating to sustainable development of Africa, and the world in general.
