== Observations ==
*A large to very large tree up to 65 m tall, with a straight bole up to 100 cm in diameter; bark yellowish, slash aromatic but without dammar; leaves .*Leaves ovate to lanceolate, 5-8 cm × 1.5-3 cm, with an up to 17 mm long acumen, glabrous; fruit .*Fruit calyx lobes up to 6.5 cm × 0.8 cm, finally patent, bordering a cup which is considerably narrower than the nut. ''D.'' ''beccarii'' is not common, but occurs locally abundantly on leached sandy soils on hills and ridges below 700 m altitude; also along streams and in seasonal swamps. The density of the wood is 600-710 kg/m<sup>3</sup>at 15% moisture content. See also the table on wood properties.
