== Observations ==
*A medium-sized to large tree up to 45 m tall, with bole branchless for 18-28 m and up to 115 cm in diameter, buttresses up to 1.8 m high, bark closely, deeply fissured and dark; leaves .*Leaves ovate to elliptical, 7-14 cm × 3-6 cm, with 11-15 pairs of secondary veins, lower surface tomentose; stamens .*Stamens 15, anthers subglobose with short appendages, stylopodium present; larger .*Larger fruit calyx lobes up to 9 cm × 1.3 cm.  ''S. dasyphylla'' occurs on well-drained flat country and low hills in mixed dipterocarp forest up to 700(-1000) m altitude. The density of the wood is 335-690 kg/m<sup>3</sup>at 15% moisture content. See also the table on wood properties.
