Vernacular names

- Malaysia: badau batu (Sarawak), meranti bumbong (Peninsular).
Distribution
Peninsular Malaysia (Pahang), Lingga and north-western Borneo.
Uses
The timber is used as white meranti.
Observations
- A medium-sized tree up to 30 m tall with bole up to 80 cm in diameter and inconspicuous buttresses.
- Leaves ovate to elliptical, 8-16 cm × 4-7.5 cm, with (11-)20-24 pairs of secondary veins, lower surface pale pink lepidote, petiole stout, 1.5-2.5 cm long.
- Stamens 17, stylopodium absent.
- Larger fruit calyx lobes up to 9 cm × 1.3 cm.
S. dealbata is locally common on yellow sandy soils in flat coastal swamps and on low hills up to 150 m altitude. The density of the wood is 560-870 kg/m3 at 15% moisture content.
