Vernacular names
- Indonesia: lameh, lameh utan (Sumatra).
Distribution
Sumatra, Java and the Lesser Sunda Islands.
Uses
Pounded leaves are used externally to treat wounds.
Observations
- A small to medium-sized tree up to 22(-30) m tall with bole up to 65 cm in diameter.
- Leaves 3-4-verticillate, lanceolate, 14-30 cm × 3.5-6.5 cm, petiole rather thick, up to 1 cm long.
- Flowers with campanulate-infundibuliform corolla tube at most twice the length of the calyx.
- Fruit obversely trapezoid.
R. javanica is closely related to R. reflexa and R. sumatrana. It occurs in lowland to lower montane rain forest up to 1800 m altitude, sometimes in open places.
