Distribution
Peninsular Burma (Myanmar), Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Uses
The sarcotesta around the seed is edible.
Observations
- Tree, up to 27 m tall and 60 cm diameter trunk.
- Leaves 1-5-jugate.
- Fruit an ellipsoid capsule, 3-4 cm × 2 cm, red, densely covered with 6-9 mm long appendages.
In forests on steep ridges and on sandstone, up to 800 m altitude. Fruiting in April-July.
