Vernacular names
- Indonesia: rotan jermasi, jarmasi (Sulawesi). In the rattan trade it is wrongly named "jermasin", which appears to be the shortened name of Banjarmasin, the capital of South Kalimantan, one of the centres of rattan production.
Distribution
Sulawesi (Central and SouthEast).
Uses
Cane extensively used in making furniture, locally and for export; excellent quality smalldiameter cane but cheaper than that of C. caesius Bl.
Observations
Sparsely clustering rattan, slender, to 42 m tall. Stem to 4 mm in diameter without leafsheaths, with sheaths to 10 mm in diameter. Found in lowland primary forest on rather wet soils up to 50 m altitude. Very poorly known botanically.
