Vernacular names

  • Thailand: khee chaang (northern).

Distribution

Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Borneo.

Uses

In Peninsular Malaysia, ash from the fruits has been used as powder to treat itch.

Observations

A straggling shrub or liana up to 40 m long; leaflets chartaceous, lateral veins of leaflets forming a reticulate pattern beneath, glands on petiole and rachis elliptical to oblong; flower glomerules 9-10 mm in diameter; pod oblong to lanceolate, 18-25 cm × 3.5-5 cm. A. pseudointsia occurs in primary and secondary rain forests, often at riversides, up to 1000 m altitude.
