Distribution
Indonesia (Java, Sumatra).
Uses
Seed clusters are eaten raw or candied.
Observations
- Robust perennial herb, up to 4 m tall.
- Leaves lanceolate, 32-63 cm × 7-15 cm.
- Fruit berry-like, ellipsoidal, 3 cm × 1.5 cm.
- Seeds broadly ovoid, ca. 3 mm diameter.
In forest vegetation up to 1000 m altitude.
