  • Vietnam: vừng dất.

Distribution

Tropical Africa, and from India to Indo-China and throughout Malesia.

Uses

Leaves are said to be edible.

Observations

  • Erect herb, up to 1 m tall, with quadrangular to 4-winged stem.
  • Leaves sessile, lanceolate, 3.5-16 cm × 1-3.5 cm, glabrous to scabrid.
  • Flowers purple.

In humid and swampy places, common along rice fields, up to 400 m altitude.
