Vernacular names

Distribution

Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore.

Uses

Fruits are acid but edible, usually cooked.

Observations

  • Tree, 12-18 m tall.
  • Leaves broadly elliptic, 22-40 cm × 10-20 cm.
  • Flowers unisexual, yellowish but petals reddish at base.
  • Fruit a globose berry, 5-8 cm diameter, like a green apple, turning brown-yellow.

Common in lowland forest.
