Distribution

Originating from Venezuela, now cultivated there and occasionally elsewhere in the tropics.

Uses

The fruits are edible.

Observations

  • Climbing herb.
  • Flowers 2.5 cm in diameter.
  • Fruit a subglobose berry, 2.5 cm long, purple.

Species for higher altitudes in the tropics, up to 1500 m.
